Details for the fire extinguisher specs and use

Fire extinguishers are classified and rated by fire type. These classifications identify the kinds of fires or burning materials they are designed to extinguish:

Class A — solid materials such as wood, paper, cloth, rubber, and some plastics.

Class B — liquids such as grease, gasoline, kerosene or other flammable liquids.

Class C — electrical such as electrical wires or other live electrical equipment

The Hybrid Cube is equipped with two (2) Class ABC extinguishers — 
one by the front entrance door and the other on the generator side.

BASIC FIRE RULES:

- Evacuate everyone from the Hybrid Cube immediately.
- After everyone is clear, check to determine if the fire can easily be put out. If the fire is too large, or the fire is fuel-fed, stay clear of the Hybrid Cube and have the fire department manage the emergency.

If it can be safely done, without risking bodily harm or injury:
- Turn off the fuel line.
- Switch the main circuit breaker to the off position.
- Turn off the generator.

DO NOT attempt to use water to put out the fire. Water can spread some types of fire (oil), and electrocution is possible with an electrical fire.

MAINTENANCE:

To ensure the fire extinguisher(s) will be ready when needed:
Read and follow all instructions on the label and in this manual.
Inspect the extinguisher AT LEAST once a month - more frequently if exposed to weather or possible tampering.
Check that extinguisher is charged. Pointer on pressure indicator MUST be in green section. If pointer is in red or white section extinguisher is NOT ready for use.
Be sure the lock pin is firmly in place.
Keep the extinguisher clean. Check for dents, scratches, corrosion or any other damage.
Check the discharge nozzle. Make sure it is clean and free of obstructions.
Most fire extinguishers operate using the P.A.S.S. technique:

PULL – pull the pin; this will also break the tamper seal.
AIM – aim low, pointing extinguisher nozzle (or hose) at the base of the fire.
SQUEEZE – squeeze the handle to release extinguishing agent.
SWEEP – sweep from side to side at the base of the fire until it appears to be out.

Watch the area, if the fire re-ignites, repeat steps 2-4.
