Are you tired of replacing the lead-acid batteries in your existing system every 5 years or so? If you are trying to figure out if there is a better alternative, we are happy to report that there is! It is called a ZPM® — which stands for Zero-glitch Power Module — and it is a better, more modern version of a UPS. Our ZPM utilizes are lithium-ion batteries instead of lead-acid, and these innovative batteries combined with our battery forward technology are the key to reliable power output.

Not convinced yet? We understand! Here are 5 ways the ZPM will improve battery efficiency:

Constant charge and recharge.

That’s right, our ZPM pulls a consistent charge from the power grid, your onsite generator, or from a renewable energy source. What does this mean? The ZPM is what is constantly powering your load! There is a big difference between the performance of the ZPM and a UPS that only turns on when there is a loss of power. With the ZPM, your risk of a dead battery or one that is unresponsive is much lower.

Smart technology.

Everything is smart these days, from your phone to your television, and we think batteries should be no exception to that rule. Our ZPM combines smart tech with real-time data analytics to monitor the state of the batteries, incoming and outgoing power distribution, potential wind and solar energy statistics, site temperatures, and much more.

Optimized for powering electronics.

The ZPM was built with today’s technology in mind. To give some context, a lead-acid battery has a depth of discharge of 50% with a lifespan of fewer than 1500 charge cycles, or around 2-3 years. It is great for starting your car, but once a lead-acid battery is discharged below 50%, its lifespan decreases dramatically. By contrast, our ZPM's lithium-ion batteries can be discharged fully from 100% to 0% with lifespans of over 6000 cycles, or around 20 years. This means you will be replacing your batteries much less often with lithium-ion, which equals fewer headaches for you in the long term.

Higher energy density, lower cost.

Lithium-ion batteries have 5x the energy density compared to lead-acid. This means maintenance and replacement costs for lithium-ion batteries are drastically lower. Plus with higher energy density, our ZPMs take up half the space and are one-fourth the weight of lead-acid batteries! This gives you the potential for more power to be stored in a smaller area.

No guesswork.

On-site and remote monitoring means you know the state of charge of the ZPM at all times. This eliminates the cost and labor of constantly having to manually check lead-acid batteries to see how much life they have left. Imagine how much more you will achieve without worrying about your lead-acid batteries and their efficiency.

And there you have it: 5 ways the ZPM will improve battery efficiency. We hope that this blog post helps you in your search for an alternative to UPS lead-acid batteries. Are you interested in making the switch to ZPM? Talk to an Expert!
